Round Rock's subdivision belt along the I-35 corridor built out through the 1990s and 2000s, and the driveways laid then are now old enough for their first real resurfacing. If you live in one of those master-planned communities between I-35 and the Toll 130, your driveway is probably showing the wear of twenty years of Texas heat, storm runoff, and the Blackland clay that swells when wet and cracks when dry.
That's where Austin Asphalt Paving comes in. We've been serving Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, and the rest of the Austin area since 2012, and we know exactly what happens to asphalt over the clay belt east of the interstate. When your driveway starts to fail, we'll tell you honestly whether it needs a patch, a resurfacing, or a full replacement, and we'll give you a written estimate with tonnage specs so you know what you're paying for.
Asphalt Paving in Round Rock (78664)
Round Rock's subdivision driveways sit on Blackland Prairie clay, and that clay is the defining challenge. When a storm soaks the ground, the clay swells and lifts the asphalt with it. Weeks later, when the soil dries out, it shrinks and cracks the pavement open. If the base under your driveway wasn't compacted properly when it was built, that heaving happens every wet-dry cycle, and the cracks get worse each year. Water runs into those cracks, softens the base, and before long you're looking at alligator cracking across the surface or a section that's settled away from the garage apron.
We handle that problem with proper base preparation, correct thickness, and good drainage pitch so water runs away from your foundation and garage. We've worked hundreds of Round Rock driveways, and we know the soil conditions, the lot layouts in the major subdivisions, and how to build a drive that will hold up. Our team is fully insured, and we've been in business since 2012 serving Austin and the surrounding areas.

How a Job Works in Round Rock
We start with a free on-site assessment. We'll walk your driveway with you, measure it, and look at the base, the drainage, and what's actually failed. If you've got a pothole or edge breaking, we'll explain whether patching makes sense or whether the money belongs in resurfacing the whole drive. We'll answer questions about HOA approval, apron rules, and whether your city requires a permit, and we'll give you a written estimate with the square footage, the thickness, and the tonnage of asphalt we'll lay.
When we're ready to work, we'll coordinate access with you and any HOA requirements. If your lot is tight or the drive is narrow, we plan the job so the paver and roller can get in and out without tearing up the grass or the neighbor's property. We'll mill out the old surface if you need resurfacing, or we'll do a full-depth removal and replacement with a compacted base if the subgrade is compromised. We haul away all the old material and clean up the site when we're done.
Driveway paving in Round Rock typically runs from $6 per square foot for new installation on a prepared base, and resurfacing of an existing drive runs from $4 per square foot if the base is sound. A pothole or small patch repair starts at $450. Full-depth replacement, where the base has failed, runs from $7 per square foot because we have to remove the old material, prepare and compact the subgrade, and lay a proper base before the new asphalt. The real cost drivers are the square footage of your driveway, the condition of the base underneath, and the thickness we need to build in for the clay conditions under Round Rock. We'll give you a free estimate by phone at (737) 256-6070, or we can come out and measure your driveway in person so you have a firm number before you decide.
